For over 150 years the Gwydyr Hotel fishery has been renowned for some of the finest Salmon and Sea Trout fishing throughout Wales. Enjoy Salmon and Sea Trout fishing in breathtaking surroundings, with Buzzards and Peregrines above and King Fishers along the banks, you will find your fishing experience truly memorable.

Summer Salmon fishing commences in May, with fish of between 5-8 Ibs from late August the heavier autumn fish arrive with fish in the 10-20 Ibs class caught on a variety of permitted methods, given suitable conditions.

Grilse fishing commences late July through September.
Large Sea Trout start to arrive in late May in the 10-12Ibs class, from June onwards they arrive in numbers. Quality night fishing can be had with Bats for company and splashes of large Sea Trout to inspire.

The hotel encourages fly fishing however spinning, shrimp or worm may be used in suitable conditions.

You are guaranteed a warm welcome, good food, fine ale and wines to complete your enjoyment, (or drown your sorrows!)

Fishing Guides and Ghillie services are provided if required.

The fishery has in excess of 12 miles of excellent fishing on the spate rivers, namely Rivers Conwy & Lledr with its many famous runs and named pools.

The Gwydyr Hotel is a hotel with private fishing in the heart of Snowdonia, North Wales.

We are situated amongst some of the most beautiful scenery in Wales and the idyllic setting allows for a relaxing time fishing for salmon and sea trout. Whilst fishing you will have company in the form of local birds including buzzards, king fishers and peregrines.

May is the beginning of the summer salmon fishing season here at the Gwydyr Hotel and you can expect to land fish between 5 and 8lbs, later in the year, around the end of August, you can expect to land a much heavier fish with sizes of anything between 10 to 20lbs.

Towards the end of July through to September grilse fishing is available. For those of unfamiliar with the term grilse it is used to describe the young arctic salmon returning from the sea to the fresh water.

Late may and sea trout start to arrive in our fisheries and in June they are here in large numbers which makes for some fun night fishing.

Sea Trout Fishing In North Wales

If you fancy sea trout fishing in North Wales then the Gwydyr Hotel offers the perfect location. For over a century we have been able to offer our guests a fantastic place for sea trout and salmon fishing. We are set in the most fantastic surroundings with beautiful wildlife all around us.

Large sea trout start to arrive towards the end of May in our fishery and are around the 12lbs mark, when June arrives the trout are in abundance. There is also the opportunity for night fishing where you shall have the company of the local bats.

We do try to encourage guests at our hotel to participate in fly fishing, however if conditions permit there are other methods of fishing that we permit including shrimp, worm and spinning.
