Gwydyr forest encircles the village of Betws-y-Coed and reaches northwards to Trefriw, and southwards to Penmachno.  There are various paths and cycle tracks throughout the Forest, some following the trail to old lead mines. A trail guide that is available from the local tourist information office, guides visitors around some of the forest’s best-preserved sites.The forest is popular with mountain bikers and encompasses the highly technical Marin Trail which consists of steep climbs, great views and big descents.
